Libby Rowe- New Work coming to Nashville!

Living In Two Worlds- Ground Floor Gallery- 6-8 pm, Nov. 17, 2012

A combination of Libby Rowe’s Inside/Out, a series of digitally-manipulated domicile constructions, and (sub)Division, a large-scale photographic sculpture. Rowe began these series after departing Nashville, to accept a tenure track position with the University of Texas at San Antonio in photography. Both are personal commentaries on her experiences and observations on modern day “sprawl” and the lasting affects on a society that lives in a transient world. While both series have an outwardly focus on the precision and care taken to make the spurious structures themselves, Inside/Out invites us to view what is going on inside these fictitious homes. Somewhere within the pseudo-stately manor of “The American Way” I hear that sing-song voice of Mr. Roger’s asking“Won’t you be my neighbor?”
